PAMBID REVIEW GUIDE

How to read and write game reviews

A game can feel different depending on personal taste, platform, when it was played, and how far the player progressed. pambid separates the experience into five areas instead of reducing every opinion to one overall score.

1. Story

Look at narrative structure, characters, world building, pacing, and the effect of player choices. A useful review explains why something felt engaging or slow by discussing details such as the opening, dialogue, or handling of plot threads. Important revelations belong in the spoiler field.

2. Game systems

Consider controls, combat and progression, difficulty, balance, and replay value. It is helpful to go beyond listing familiar genre features and explain how the systems interact, whether choices are meaningful, and what creates—or weakens—the motivation to continue playing.

3. Graphics

Graphics are more than resolution or realism. Art direction, color, animation, visual readability, and consistency all affect the experience. Separating deliberate artistic choices from technical display problems also makes a review more useful to readers on different hardware.

4. UI and UX

Review menu clarity, input feedback, text readability, tutorials, accessibility options, and localization. Explaining exactly where an interaction became confusing—and whether a setting solved it—gives prospective players information they can act on.

5. Optimization

Discuss frame rate, loading, freezes or crashes, network stability, and the effect of changing settings. Include the platform, operating system, relevant PC hardware, graphics preset, and tested version when possible so readers can distinguish a game-wide issue from an environment-specific one.

How to compare reviews

  • Start with posts from a similar platform and play style.
  • Read the reasoning and date, not only the score.
  • Look for common observations across differing opinions.
  • Allow for changes introduced by later updates.

Principles for contributors

Describe an experience you personally checked and use your own words; do not copy promotional text or another site. Separate observable facts from taste, and include reproduction steps or system details when reporting a problem. Never post personal data, credentials, or harassment directed at another person.
